Move it over, dad, ’cause I’m a double-dipper

Upside down on the zip-zip-zipper

One-two, one-two-three

Oh, I gotta ticket so ride with me!

The “East River Roundabout” at Andrew Haswell Green Park. End of 60th Street, Lenox Hill.

Installed here in 1995, Alice Aycock’s aluminum helix — the Roundabout — wraps around what’s left of the Department of Sanitation’s waster transfer building. Now in the hands of the Parks Department, the 12,000 square foot site sits several stories above the edge of the East River. The 59th Street Bridge and Roosevelt Island Tramway, though, top it overhead.
